Solent Swim 2020

Well the marathons of last year are a distant memory, but the training with my daughter I will never forget. Whilst training I even managed a few runs with all my children and the dog (as pictured) in Cornwall.

Another great fun day out was the New Milton Pedal car race, unfortunately the last one to be held in New Milton. So on to 2020, this year Ill turn 50 so Ive got a few plans. The main events for fundraising this year will be cycling through the Rhine valley in June and the Solent Swim on 16th August.

Ive always fancied this swim, so why not tick it off the list and raise a little money for the Samaritans at the same time. If you would like to support this cause you can donate at the link below.

2019 A year for running.

This year Im working toward the Stratford Upon Avon Marathon in April, its been 10 years since I last ran here. So in March I have entered the Oakhaven Half Marathon with my daughter, as a warm up race.

Last year we joined the group of local businesses that sponsor this event,  its a superbly organised local charity which we are proud to be involved with.

Donations can be made directly as http://www.oakhavenhospice.co.uk

In June 2018 myself and 18 other hardy riders will be cycling through the Loire Valley for three days, it’s just over 300 miles. The event has been organised to raise money for The Joe Glover Trust www.thejoeglovertrust.org

Donations can be made at www.justgiving.com/teams/loire and will be greatly appreciated.

As always all donations will go 100% directly to the the charity and will be topped up from our business.

Chicken Chaser Challenge 2017

UPDATE

The Chicken Chaser challenge is completed and as you can see we have reached our target for fundraising easily, thank you to all who have donated to this worthy cause. We had a great time, with a few inevitable mechanical issues, but all made it home in one piece. The just giving page is still open if you would like to donate.

Strive Challenge Update

Strive Challenge 2016

The triathlon stage

Honestly, my first thoughts were, this should be a piece of cake. The team doing the whole event had already hiked and cycled from The Matterhorn to the southern tip of Italy, over 25 days of hard work,  surely they wouldn’t make it too hard on themselves on the final stage! .. I was wrong.

If you tried to pick a harder, more vertical path from sea level to the top of Mount Etna you would struggle, the mountain bike stages were brutally technical  with mammoth climbs and the sea swim was punishing, mainly because I made the rookie error of not wearing the wetsuit. My runners physique left me with mild hyperthermia, although my son Connor smashed it.

However, the most striking thing of all were the people involved. Not one negative person among the 85 participants, it was a humbling experience listening to stories of  guys that had never been off road on a mountain bike, tackling these challenging routes and just getting the job done with a smile.

And of course, to complete this latest challenge with my son by my side all the way was the icing on the cake. I have to concede he now has the edge on his old man!

Some more photos of the whole event are here to view if you are interested, there are quite a few high profile participants. https://www.instagram.com/strivechallenge/

Strive Challenge 2016

In September 2014 I was lucky to be involved with the Strive Challenge raising money for Big Change, a charity Founded by a group of friends in 2012, It was created to think differently about the role that charity can play in driving change for young people in the UK.

The founders of Big Change (Holly and Sam Branson, Princess Beatrice of York, Sam Richardson, Phil Nevin, and Isabella Branson) wanted to do more that just treat symptoms, they wanted to positively move things forward. To that end, they back solutions that demonstrate alternative ways of supporting young people- helping them to thrive in life, not just in exams.

This year the strive crew are at it again, hiking, running, riding and swimming their way from northern Italy to the summit of Mount Etna in sicily. My son and me will be joining them for the last three days to  complete the following :

3.3KM SWIM, 110KM BIKE, 21KM RUN/HIKE , details are on their website, bigchange.strivechallenge.com/the-team.

Unlike alot of charity events, none of the money raised is used to pay for set up costs, these are all paid by the competitors, so 100% of the money raised goes directly to the charity.

Thats where you come in. If you go to the strive challenge website above, you can follow the link by my photo to the just giving page and make a donation.

Wish us luck and come back here after september for an update and photos.

Thanks for your support,

Steven Morton
